Not because the products are wrong. Because one requirement on the checklist sits in the United States, and the applicant is in Seoul. This page sets out what Walmart actually asks a non-US company for, where applications break, and what has to be in place after approval.
VVFulfillment is a logistics 3PL partner for Korean brands on the Walmart online marketplace. Final approval decisions rest with Walmart.
South Korea is listed among Walmart's supported seller countries. A Korean corporation without a US entity or EIN onboards under the W-8BEN-E tax classification, which has to be renewed every three years. Everything below can be produced in Korea, except the last line.
| # | Requirement | Where it comes from | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Business registration certificate | Korean National Tax Service | You already have it |
| 2 | Utility bill or bank statement, within 3 months | Korea | Obtainable |
| 3 | GTIN / UPC product codes | GS1 Korea | Obtainable |
| 4 | At least one year of online sales history | Amazon, your own store | Provable |
| 5 | Physical US return address | United States | This is where it stops |
Approval takes roughly 10 to 15 business days by published guidance, and longer if additional review is triggered. Walmart is built for established businesses rather than casual sellers, and the review compares your documents line by line.
Walmart scores every listing out of 100 across four components: content and discoverability, offer, ratings and reviews, and post-purchase quality. Two of those four are decided by logistics rather than by copywriting.
Product names run best at roughly 50 to 75 characters. Attribute fields matter more than most sellers expect — leaving them blank drops the item out of filtered search entirely, which no amount of title tuning recovers.
The offer score reflects price, delivery speed and in-stock rate. These come from holding inventory in the United States. Shipping every order from Korea forfeits the delivery component before you start.
Walmart Fulfillment Services is the platform's own warehouse. An independent 3PL is the alternative. The choice is not really about price, it is about how many channels you sell on.
| Walmart Fulfillment Services | Independent 3PL | |
|---|---|---|
| Inventory usable by | Walmart orders only | Every channel from one pool |
| Long-term storage | Rate rises past 366 days and again past 450 days | Per contract |
| Items under $10 | Additional per-unit fee applies | Per contract |
| International inbound | Must clear US customs first; border-direct delivery is not generally accepted | Receives your import normally |
| Returns handling | Platform policy | Inspection and disposition rules you set |
For Korean companies there is a state-supported route as well. KOTRA and Walmart run a programme to help Korean consumer goods companies — particularly in beauty and food — reach the US e-commerce market, covering marketplace onboarding education, US sales regulation and customs, FDA and labelling preparation, and marketplace operations and advertising.
It is a parallel path rather than a replacement: the same seller requirements apply, including the US return address. Details and application windows are published by KOTRA.
Yes. Walmart lists South Korea among its supported seller countries. A company incorporated outside the United States without an EIN onboards under the W-8BEN-E tax classification, which must be renewed every three years. You still need a physical US return address and a US phone line for support.
No. Walmart requires a physical US address for returns. This is separate from fulfillment, so it applies whether you use Walmart Fulfillment Services or your own third-party logistics provider.
Published guidance indicates roughly 10 to 15 business days, and additional review can extend that. Delays and rejections commonly trace to mismatched documents, a missing US return address, thin sales history, or slow responses during review.
No. You can complete registration with a US return address alone and keep shipping as you do now. US inventory matters later, because delivery speed and in-stock rate feed the offer component of Listing Quality Score.
A business registration certificate from the Korean National Tax Service, a utility bill or bank statement dated within three months, GS1-issued GTIN or UPC codes, evidence of at least a year of online sales, and a US return address. Keep the English company name identical across every document.
If the return address is what stands between you and a Walmart seller account, that part takes minutes rather than months.
