TikTok Shop US requires a USPS-verified US return warehouse, and its own return warehouse destroys every item it receives. You can keep shipping from Amazon MCF or your current 3PL and open a separate US return address instead.
Six things. Five can be arranged from abroad or through an agent. The sixth is where most international sellers stall.
| # | Requirement | Where | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | US entity or registered agent | US | Agent can handle |
| 2 | EIN (Employer Identification Number) | IRS | Can be applied for |
| 3 | US business address | US | Agent can handle |
| 4 | Store deposit | TikTok Shop | Pay and done |
| 5 | US fulfillment (3PL or FBT) | US | MCF or your current 3PL works |
| 6 | US return warehouse address | US | This is the blocker |
TikTok Shop asks for three separate addresses: a business address, a shipping warehouse and a return warehouse. The first two are paperwork. The return warehouse has to be a place where a parcel is physically received.
No. TikTok Shop's Seller University guide sends US sellers to Seller Center → Warehouse → Return Warehouse to register a US warehouse address, and that address must return DPV = Y on the USPS address check. If the result is S or D because a suite, unit or floor is missing, the guide warns that returns may fail to deliver and be lost. A buyer in Texas mailing a return to Seoul is outside that framework entirely.
Settle this before you list products. The return warehouse and shipping template are attached to each listing, so changing them later means revisiting the shipping settings on every product you have already published. Opening the store and rushing to list first is the wrong order.
You can, but every returned item is destroyed and cannot be recovered. The platform return warehouse option, available to sellers based in China, sends returns to the platform warehouse nearest the buyer. Once that warehouse confirms receipt the buyer is refunded, and the guide states that received items are destroyed and cannot be returned or retrieved. You also cannot choose which warehouse is used.
That means no chance to see why the item came back and no chance to inspect its condition. With your own US address you at least get a receipt confirmation, optional photos, and a grace period before disposal.
No. Shipping and returns can be separated.
| Flow | Where it happens | Cost change |
|---|---|---|
| Storage | Where it is now (Amazon FBA/MCF or your 3PL) | None |
| Order fulfillment | Same as today | None |
| Receiving customer returns | A US Return-only warehouse | From USD 19 a month |
| After receipt | Same warehouse, disposal by default | USD 1 per item |
Fulfilling through Amazon MCF while returns go to a separate address is how VVFulfillment's Return-only customers run it. Your shipping SLA stays the same; you register the return address in the TikTok Shop Return Warehouse setting. If you set the Amazon return address to the same location, returns from both channels land in one place. The Amazon side is covered in Amazon will not ship your FBA inventory to a non-US address.
Yes, but the order matters. Put inventory into TikTok Shop's own fulfillment and you do not need a separate return address. The trade-off is that stock and cost move to the US before anything has sold.
| Start with FBT | Start with Return-only | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront | Inbound shipment plus receiving fees | USD 19 a month plus a USD 500 deposit, settled on cancellation |
| Inventory location | Tied up in TikTok Shop's warehouse | Stays where it is |
| Other channels | Stock has to be split | Existing stock serves all channels |
| If it does not sell | Removal or disposal fees | Nothing to unwind |
| Exit | Inventory recovery process | 30 days notice |
Moving to FBT once you know what sells on TikTok Shop is not too late. During validation, opening only the address carries far less risk.
Receipt is confirmed, then the item is disposed of. Arrivals are logged, held for 14 days, then disposed of at USD 1 per item. If you want to see the condition, request photos within that window at USD 5 per item.
Most TikTok Shop returns are not resellable. Opened units and hygiene-sensitive products such as cosmetics cannot be recovered, so disposal is the rational default for this flow.
Storing or recovering inventory is a separate service. Inspecting returns for resale or bulk resale requires a full 3PL contract. The Return-only address cannot do that work.
Because they drive visibility and account status. TikTok Shop reduces exposure when seller performance metrics fall outside its thresholds and restricts accounts that do not recover. If you do not know why items come back, you cannot fix it. Returns sent to the platform's own warehouse give you none of that information, which is the second reason to use your own address.
A sizing problem, transit damage and a listing that oversells the product each call for a different fix. Learning the reasons while volume is small keeps the return rate from running away when volume grows.
No. TikTok Shop US requires a US warehouse address in the Seller Center Return Warehouse setting, verified as DPV = Y with USPS, and expects returns to be handled inside the United States.
Yes. Keep your current fulfillment and register a US Return-only warehouse address in the TikTok Shop Return Warehouse setting.
Returns go to the platform warehouse nearest the buyer, the buyer is refunded once the warehouse confirms receipt, and received items are destroyed and cannot be retrieved. You cannot choose the warehouse.
The return address itself can be a US third-party warehouse. Registering a TikTok Shop seller account still has its own requirements, such as a US entity or registered agent, an EIN and a store deposit.
No. It is one requirement among several. TikTok Shop reviews entity, tax, logistics and product compliance together, and approval rests with TikTok Shop.
The Return-only service covers receiving and disposal. Inspection for resale or bulk resale requires moving to a 3PL contract.
Only months with more than 10 returns move to the Standard plan at USD 59 for 10 to 50 returns. The following month drops back to Basic at USD 19 if volume falls. No new contract is needed.

Return-only starts at USD 19 a month. Shipping stays where it is; only the return address moves to the US.
